Update a bill amount

There are two different changes here, and they live in two different places. Tapping a bill in the Bills list changes the bill itself, the rule, going forward. Tapping a bill in the peek changes that one month and leaves the rule alone.

For a rent increase or a renewal, open Bills, tap the bill in the list, type the new amount and tap Save. Carlo asks when it takes effect: a month picker opens on next month, and you can scroll back about a year or forward about a year. Tap Apply.

Upcoming payments before that month keep the old amount and everything from that month on uses the new one. Payments you have already recorded are never rewritten, which is the point: your history stays what actually happened.

While the change is still in the future the bill's row carries a small amber line telling you what is coming, something like "Increasing from $139.00 to $159.00 in September". It disappears once that month arrives.

For a single unusual month, a high electric bill say, pull up the peek, tap that month's bill, enter the amount and save. Only that month changes. If you have not paid it yet and want to undo it, reopen it and tap the reset button, which names the regular amount so you know what you are going back to.

If the bill was already marked paid, editing it there corrects the recorded payment too, so your spending stays honest. There is no reset in that case, because that would erase what you actually paid.
