Archive or restore a category

Retire a category you no longer use, and bring it back when you want it.

On the Budget screen, press and hold the coin you want to retire, tap the Edit tab, scroll to the bottom and tap Archive Category. It happens immediately, with no confirmation to dismiss.

The coin leaves your Budget screen and stops appearing when you log a transaction, but every past entry keeps it. Nothing is deleted, which is the whole difference between archiving and deleting.

To bring it back, open More, then Data & Records, then Archived Items. Categories are filed by where they lived, so look under Month Coins, Year Coins or Bills rather than for a category list. Find it and tap Restore.

If the one you want is a subcategory whose parent is also archived, Carlo will tell you to restore the parent first, and doing that brings the whole group back together.

To delete a category for good instead, use the red trash icon on its row in Archived Items. Carlo tells you exactly what goes with it, subcategories and their transactions included, before you confirm, and it cannot be undone. In a shared space that option is not there at all: shared categories belong to everyone, so they can be archived but never destroyed.
