Set up a savings goal

Open the More menu from the tray, tap Goals, and in the Savings section tap ＋ Add a savings goal.

Pick an emoji, name it, choose a color, and enter the target amount you are saving toward. If you have already set money aside, put it under Starting balance and Carlo subtracts it from the target when working out your monthly contribution.

Then choose how fast to get there, either Pick a completion date or Pick a monthly amount. Carlo shows the other number so the trade-off is visible, and the arithmetic is simply the target minus your starting balance, divided by the months. Tap Save and Carlo begins tracking contributions and pace from the start month.

To log a contribution, open the goal and tap Add to goal at the bottom of the Transactions tab, with a note if you want one. To change the target or the timeline, use the Edit tab, where Carlo recalculates immediately; a later date means a smaller monthly amount.

When a savings goal reaches its target it turns into a goal coin among your year coins, a spending coin holding exactly what you saved. You spend it down by logging transactions against it from the GOALS section of the category picker, and if the goal had subcategories, a vacation split into venue, flights and food, you pick the relevant one. The coin shows what is left, keeps its balance until you have spent it all, and never resets at year end. It also sits outside the year pace total, because that money is already saved rather than budgeted.

If the end date passes without the target being met, the goal offers to Extend to a new date or Close it out as it stands.

And if a goal stops making sense but the money should still go somewhere, the Edit tab offers Dissolve & Redirect. Choose another savings goal or a year coin, and Carlo moves the whole balance there and archives the original. It shows you exactly what will happen and asks you to confirm, because it cannot be undone.
