Manage payment methods

Payment methods are labels for the card or cash you used. Add, rename, recolor, and archive them.

Open the More menu from the tray, tap Settings, then Data & Records, and find Payment Methods. Each one shows how many transactions are linked to it.

Tap Add Payment Method at the bottom of the list, give it a name like "Chase Visa", pick whether it is Cash or a Credit Card, choose a color, and save. It then appears in this list and on the transaction entry screen.

To change one, tap it in the list and edit its name, type, or color. To retire one, open it and tap Archive: it disappears from the entry screen while every linked transaction is preserved exactly as it was. Archiving never alters a transaction. You can bring it back from Settings → Data & Records → Archived Items → Accounts, where payment methods are filed.

The color is more useful than it looks. It shows as a dot beside the name in lists, which makes picking the right card quick when you are logging something.

Colors pay off again when you want to see spending by card. Open the peek on the Budget screen and you will find a Payment Method filter row below the category filters, once you have more than one method. Tap "Cash" or "Chase Visa" to see only what you paid that way. It combines with the category filters, and All clears it.

Worth being clear about what these are: Carlo does not read your card to create them. They are labels you make yourself, so the name is simply whatever helps you remember which card or cash you used. (Bank Reminders is a separate feature that can watch an account for you.)
