Connect or disconnect a bank
Connecting, reconnecting when a bank asks you to sign in again, and what disconnecting does.
Open More → Bank Reminders and tap Connect a bank. You will sign in on your bank's own screens. Carlo never sees your banking password.
Carlo offers two ways to connect. Standard takes a minute and keeps the bank-access credential on Carlo's servers. Device-only keeps that credential on your phone instead, at the cost of a longer setup and a separate subscription. Your bank data is encrypted either way, and Carlo never gets your banking password. See Your bank data and Carlo.
The device-only option covers every bank you have linked at SimpleFIN, so Carlo asks which of those accounts you want it to watch. Pick as many or as few as you like. Carlo only ever asks SimpleFIN for the accounts you picked — the rest are never sent to your phone at all. Change your mind later with Choose accounts on that connection; you do not need to disconnect and start over.
Bank Reminders is included in your free trial, and after that it comes with a membership. You can always see and disconnect a bank you have already connected, membership or not.
Sometimes a bank asks you to sign in again — a changed password, an expired session, or a bank that simply asks periodically. When that happens Carlo shows Needs reconnecting on that bank and sends you a message. Tap Reconnect, sign in again, and everything picks up where it left off. Nothing you have already recorded is affected.
Carlo can only tell you this while you have the app open, and only when your bank says so explicitly. If reminders from one bank seem to have stopped, open Bank Reminders and have a look.
Disconnecting stops Carlo watching that account. Everything already recorded stays exactly where it is — your transactions, your notes, your photos. Disconnecting ends the connection, not your history.
One bank can be connected to one space. If you use a shared space with someone, a bank lives in either your own Carlo or the shared one — not both.
